AAYC, founded in 1959, is a nonprofit organization composed of person, both lay and professional, who are interested in or working with young children. AAYC is affiliated regionally with SECA, the Southern Early Childhood Association, and nationally with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
AAYC's membership includes the following: teachers, assistants and administrators working in programs that serve young children, including child-care centers, family day care homes and public schools, educators and trainers working in colleges and universities, community agencies, vocational schools, and high schools; social workers, nurses, psychologists and physicians serving families with young children and working in community agencies, private protective or in family's home; public officials interested in public policy decisions that affect young children and their families; and parents who want to learn more about the growth and development of their young children.
